Mets Star Pete Alonso Escapes 'Brutal' Crash: Reports
Alonso's car flipped three times after being struck by another motorist who ran a red light, according to reports.
NEW YORK CITY — A drive to spring training almost turned tragic for Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, according to reports.
Alonso told reporters Monday he was involved in a "brutal" car crash the day before in Port St. Lucie, Florida, CBS Sports reported.
Another motorist blew through a red light and plowed into Alonso's vehicle, flipping it three times, according to the CBS report. Alonso told reporters he had to kick out his windshield.

"To me, I'm just really thankful to be alive," he said, according to video tweeted by Deesha Thosar, the Mets beat reporter for the New York Daily News.
Footage filmed by Alonso's wife and published by TMZ shows the crash's aftermath.
