Mick Jagger's Surgery Forces Rolling Stones To Scrap NYC Show

NEW YORK – The Rolling Stones' have put plans to rock the New York City area on hold after revealing lead singer Mick Jagger needs surgery to replace a valve in his heart, according to his spokesman.

The band announced it has cancelled the much anticipated U.S and Canada 'No Filter' tour, which was set to begin on April 20th in Florida and roll into the MetLife Stadium on June 13 and 17.

"Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment," the initial statement from the band said. "The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can go back on stage as soon as possible."

The band is telling fans who have already purchased tickets to hold onto their stubs, as those tickets will still be valid for rescheduled dates.

Bandmate and famed guitarist Keith Richards expressed his own support for long time friend Mick Jagger on Twitter.

"A big disappointment for everyone but things need to be taken care of and we will see you soon. Mick, we are always there for you!"

Fellow Stones' guitarist Ronnie Wood added, "We'll miss you over the next few weeks, but we're looking forward to seeing you all again very soon."
