Mind Blown! Diane Lilli - The Last Invention - The Day Death Died

The Last Invention by Diane Lilli: This is not your grandfather's Sci-fi book. This AI novel will blow your mind!

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=the...I am a book nerd, but I am not a techie newbie. My friend in publishing just sent me an advanced copy of a novel that took my breath away, The Last Invention, by author Diane Lilli. It's being published in bookstores on August 1, in paperback and eBook. I spoke to her, and she said that she took ten years to finish the book, and in spite of having two literary agents offer deals to publish it with the big publishing houses, an Indie publishing house is releasing it.

"I'm a single mom, and I put three kids through college, so I've been working like a robot," said Diane Lilli. "No breaks. Writing journalism, running newspapers, doing PR when I needed to make quick money, and always working on my novel. I knew it was time, finally, when the leading scientists and tech leaders in the world wrote an open letter in March begging countries to pause AI, so that we can create some safeguards before it's too late."

Remember how the pandemic blew our minds and how it felt like we lived in a Sci-fi world? This story offers a near-future time that will resonate with you. It feels very...real.

The Last Invention is named after what scientists refer to as “the final invention,” aka man’s last creation of the machine/computer.

The novel centers around two close sisters and how they face the dominance of AI. Amanda and Emily are in dramatically different realities, one grounded on Earth and one living in a Utopian metaverse. It's powerful to see how the awful division we all know here in the US can happen on a global level - and break apart the closest families.

I got a kick out of the wild new tech creations in the novel, like tattoos that deliver vision platforms for the metaverse, right in your body, and check out the contact lenses. Brilliant!

In 'The Last Invention' there is no simple way to stop AI by unplugging it, and no big physical war or black-and-white villains. It's very nuanced. The writing is insanely good.

I love the back of the book and the quote by Elon Musk, because this AI fiction reads like it really could be fact in a few years. Here is a screenshot of the back of the novel.
