More Than 2K Tickets Issued In NYC For Not Shoveling Sidewalks: DSNY
After the Jan. 25 winter storm, the Department of Sanitation issued tickets to those who failed to clear their sidewalks of snow.
NEW YORK CITY — City homeowner and business owners who haven't shoveled their sidewalks after the snowstorm late last month will be stuck paying a fine.
After the Jan. 25 winter storm, the Department of Sanitation has issued 2,738 tickets to those who failed to clear their sidewalks as of Thursday.
All home and business owners must clear snow and ice from their sidewalks or face a fine of $150 for the first offense. For additional offenses, the fines can reach up to $350, according to the DSNY.

Property owners must clean sidewalk and gutter areas (18 inches from the curb into the street) along the building perimeter.
