Neil Shibata, better known as JapaneseGrandpa, is one of the largest TikTok creators in Canada right now. With 194 thousand followers on Instagram and 1.4 million followers on TikTok, he is quickly amassing a loyal following thanks to viral videos. What kind of content does he create?

Neil’s style varies on TikTok though most of his videos go viral gaining millions of views. Some of his most common videos include makeup and skits that reference pop culture and celebrities. One of Neil’s most popular video series features him and his friends trying different hairstyles seen in the photo below. In many of the videos he uses straws wrapped around his hair to create a funny result. He has also tried these hairstyles on his friends and family – even his mom!

What are his future plans?

Neil has recently launched a few other projects including a youtube channel where he posts vlogs and tutorials. Earlier this year he also released a line of merchandise titled 'Grandkidz'. This clothing line is actually named after his fans who he calls the Grandkidz. It includes t-shirts, hoodies, and even stickers with the Grandkidz logo. This logo and the various designs were inspired in part by Neil's Japanese heritage. Japanese letters and styles can be seen in many of the designs and is a cultural reference to his name.
