It materialized when the Mayor and the Department of Transportation introduced its Open Streets initiative to allow for greater social distancing across the five boroughs. The Open Streets program on Broadway—managed by the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership—was among the first in the city and includes NoMad Piazza.

Afternoons flow into evenings as neighborhood denizens and visitors spill into the streets of NoMad Piazza.
