Nor'easter Bearing Down On NYC With Heavy Rain
The city is under a flash flood watch into Tuesday as a coastal storm is expected to bring more than 4 inches of heavy rain.

NEW YORK CITY — A Nor'easter headed along the coast could bring more than 4 inches of heavy rain and flooding to New York City, according to the National Weather Service.
The city is under a flash flood watch Monday and Tuesday, as well as a hazardous weather outlook.
The nor'easter is the first of the season, according to Weather.com. Meteorologists expect heavy rain will begin Monday night, with 2 to 4 inches expected through Tuesday evening.

Locally higher amounts are possible, according to the National Weather Service.
"Uncertainty remains with regards to track and intensity of the storm along with location of heaviest rain, magnitude of wind gusts, and extent of coastal flood," a weather alert states.

The city's emergency management issued a travel advisory for Monday and Tuesday that warned of flooding and strong winds.
“This event may cause flooding in the city, including on highways, streets, underpasses, as well as other poor drainage or low-lying spots,” Andrew D’Amora, the incoming acting commissioner for emergency management, said in a statement. “New Yorkers should give themselves additional travel time and take the appropriate precautions if they must move about the city during the storm.”
The flash watch runs Monday from 8 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Strong wind gusts as high as 34 mph are also expected, according to the National Weather Service.
