NYC Adds Outdoor Dining To 15 More Open Streets

NEW YORK CITY — Hungry New Yorkers will take over more city streets to enjoy outdoor dining.

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday announced the city will sandwich together Open Restaurants and Open Streets on 15 more city streets.

The program will make those thoroughfares car-free starting Friday and weekends going forward, a release states.

"New Yorkers deserve more public space in our ongoing fight against COVID-19, and we’re proud to offer more places to get a safe outdoor meal on the weekends," said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement. "With two extra months of outdoor dining now approved, restaurants will have more chances than ever to get back on their feet. We’re excited to build on our popular Open Streets and Open Restaurants programs, and we look forward to expanding this idea even further."

The following organizations will run the outdoor dining programs on these streets:

• Kingsbridge-Riverdale-Van Cortlandt Development Corporation — Johnson Avenue from West 235th Street to West 236th Street in the Bronx
• Montague Street BID — Montague Street from Clinton Street to Pierrepont Place in Brooklyn
• Prospect Heights NDC — Vanderbilt Avenue from Pacific Street to Park Place in Brooklyn
• Sunset Park BID — Fifth Avenue from 45th Street to 47th Street in Brooklyn
• Bistro Les Amis — Spring Street from Thompson Street to West Broadway in Manhattan
• New York Koreatown Association — West 32nd Street from Fifth Avenue to Broadway in Manhattan
• Gramercy Neighborhood Associates — East 18th Street from Park Avenue to South Irving Place in Manhattan
• Zouk LTD DBA Palma — Cornelia Street from Bleecker Street to West Fourth Street in Manhattan
• 303 Canary LLC — Broome Street from Forsyth Street to Eldridge Street in Manhattan
• Chinatown BID/CCBA — Pell Street from Bowery to Mott Street in Manhattan
• Times Square Alliance — West 46th Street from Sixth Avenue to Seventh Avenue in Manhattan
• La Contenta — West 11th Street from Fifth Avenue to Sixth Avenue in Manhattan
• fil Buco — Bond Street from Lafayette Street to Bowery in Manhattan
• KC Gourmet Empanadas — Ave B from East Third Street to East Fourth Street in Manhattan
• Columbus Amsterdam BID — Amsterdam Avenue from West 97th Street to West 110th Street in Manhattan

The city now has 62 total streets where outdoor dining will take place, according to a release.
