NYC Dad Kills Himself After Attacking Wife, Child With Knife, Police Say

NEW YORK CITY — A 53-year-old man killed himself after attacking his wife and child with a knife inside their home on Sunday, police said on Monday.

The incident happened at 80-47 268th St. in Queens around 10:30 a.m.

According to police, the father slashed his 52-year-old wife in the head and 21-year-old daughter in the hand. He also hit his 15-year-old son with a dumbbell.

The 53-year-old man then stabbed himself in the throat and stomach, police said.

The dad was later pronounced dead. He has not been identified. His wife is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Police are trying to determine what sparked the attack. It is believed that the dad may have gotten into a fight with his son before the incident. Additional details have not been released.

An investigation remains ongoing.
