Is NYC Done With Snow For Spring? Forecasters Say, 'No'

Two-thirds of the country, including New York City, remain at risk for snow this spring, according to AccuWeather forecasters.

NEW YORK CITY — Spring may have sprung, but Old Man Winter might not be done with New York City.

Snow remains a possibility for the city's forecast into April, according to AccuWeather. Two-thirds of the country, including the city, have a risk of potential winter weather even after the official start of spring on March 20, the site's long-term forecasters warn.

The meteorological culprits are twofold: active storm tracks fueled by waves of cold air from the north, AccuWeather reported.

"A few more storms will track from the Northwest to the southern Rockies then cutting across the Plains and the Ohio Valley through early April," said Paul Pastelok, senior meteorological and long-range forecaster for AccuWeather, according to the report.

New York City is on the cusp, geographically, of where snow likely is over for the season, according to an AccuWeather map.

"We do feel that anywhere from Philadelphia southward to D.C. and into the Carolinas and the Gulf Coast is pretty much safe," Pastelok said.

But snow, for this week, isn't the precipitation facing New Yorkers, according to the National Weather Service.
