NYC Faces Wind Advisory, Gusts Up To 50 MPH Predicted
A wind advisory for the city takes effect Monday at 4 p.m. and will blow through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
NEW YORK CITY — Batten down the hatches, New York City — gusty, windy weather is headed our way.
The city will be under a wind advisory starting Monday at 4 p.m. and going through Tuesday at 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Up to 50 mph wind gusts could hit Monday night, forecasters warn.

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects,” the wind advisory states. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
“Due to snow melt and recent rainfall some tree root systems may be somewhat compromised potentially leading to some uprooted trees.”

The weather system won’t just bring wind.
Temperatures will hit a high of 50 degrees during the day Monday but drop sharply to 21 degrees at night, with wind chills getting even lower, according to the forecast.
Here’s the National Weather Service forecast for the next few days:
Monday
Rain likely, mainly before noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Monday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 21. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Windy, with a northwest wind 23 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.
Tuesday
Sunny, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Windy, with a northwest wind 21 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph.
Tuesday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 31. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph.
Wednesday
Sunny, with a high near 49. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph.
