NEW YORK CITY — Just a pinch. So easy. Nothing to be afraid of.

That's how New York City's First Lady Chirlane McCray described her first shot of coronavirus vaccine.

McCray publicly received the dose Tuesday at King's County Hospital to encourage hesitant eligible New Yorkers to get the potentially life-saving shot.

“There really is nothing to be afraid of,” she said.

McCray is 66 years old and thus eligible to receive the vaccine under priority 1b, which includes people 65 and older.

It puts her in a different category than her husband Mayor Bill de Blasio, who still isn't eligible to receive the vaccine.

De Blasio said he welcomed public officials getting the vaccine as a way to encourage others to receive it. But he also said he wanted to respect the current state and federal priorities for who is eligible.

He said he won't jump the line.

"We're all waiting until our turn comes up," he said.
