Village Halloween Parade

Here's a Halloween event that lives up to its own promise: "The nation’s most wildly creative public participatory event in the greatest city in the world!"

The Village Halloween Parade will be Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. on Sixth Avenue between Spring and 16th streets.

"ONLY those in costume AND MASKS are Welcome to join Hundreds of Puppets, 53 Bands of different types of music, Dancers and Artists, and Thousands of Other New Yorkers inn (sic) Costumes of their own creation in NYC’s special brand of Carnivale!" the parade's website state.

This year, the parade is celebrating its 50th year.

Halloween House

New Yorkers looking for some family-friendly, but still spooky fun might want to check out the Halloween House.

The massive attraction in the Oculus promises "No far. Just Fun."

"Halloween House is a completely immersive, one of a kind Halloween experience where you are transported to an all Halloween world,"the attraction's site states.

"Every one of our impeccably detailed, fully realized rooms is a different Halloween theme designed to make every Halloween lover's experience unforgettable."

Tickets for kids 13 and under run $34.99 and $39.99 for adults.

Car-free trick-or-treating

Trick-or-treaters won't just be confined to sidewalks in parts of New York City.

The city's "Trick-or-Streets" program — which offers car-free roads for Halloween fun — has 51 locations across the city active for All Hallows' Eve.

"Our streets are New Yorkers' front yards — and this Halloween season, we’re going to make sure that children and families can safely enjoy a spooky ‘Trick-or-Streets’ experience," said Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi in a statement.

"We're making the most of our public spaces across this city to make New York City a better place to be outside, because high-quality public spaces aren't a luxury — they're a necessity. We're excited for this to be the biggest, best 'Trick-or-Streets' yet!"
