NYC High Schools Reopen Monday: Here's What You Need To Know
High schools will be the last to reopen for in-person teaching.

NEW YORK CITY — It's another first day of school for New York City's public high school students as in-person education resumes Monday.
It brings the last group of students to return to in-person teaching since a district-wide shutdown in November as COVID-19 cases spiked. The city's middle schools returned in February and pre-K, 3-K, elementary and special needs students that opted into in-person learning are also back in their classrooms.
The return to high schools will also bring back sports. All citywide sports in the Public School Athletic League will restart with strict safety protocols in mid-April, Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

Newly-appointed schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter said high schools are expected to offer five-day-a-week in-person learning to most or all students who've signed up for classroom learning.
COVID-19 testing protocols for students are in place, along with cleaning and ventilation standards for classrooms and other safety measures.

"We can expect to see students more engaged and excelling in academics," she said.
De Blasio said Friday that there will be another chance for remote-only students and parents to opt for in-person learning.
Who’s coming back?
Every who opted into in-person or blended learning will be back in their classrooms.
They must also have filled out a consent form for COVID-19 virus testing by their first scheduled day of in-person leaning. Families can fill out the form through their NYC Schools Account.
What about COVID-19 testing?
All schools will have 20 percent of their students and staff randomly tested each week.
How will I know my child’s schedule?
Principals are supposed to have contacted parents with schedules. Parents who haven’t received them yet should contact their schools.
