Rather than wintry, the weather this holiday weekend will be distinctly mild, according to the National Weather Service's forecast. Highs will reach 50 degrees by Christmas Day itself after rising steady through the weekend.

And snow? Try rain — Saturday and Sunday both carry a 30 percent chance of it.

New York City isn't alone in being snow dry this Christmas. AccuWeather reported that only a few spots in the U.S. will see snow.

"This year could go down as one of or perhaps the least white Christmases on record," the report states.
