NYC Under Tornado Watch As Ida Remnants Soak City
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch until Thursday at 1 a.m.
NEW YORK CITY — A tornado could hit New York City as remnants of Hurricane Ida blow through, meteorologists warn.
The city is under a tornado watch until Thursday at 1 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The watch isn't the only severe weather alert facing the city. A previous flash flood watch is now paired with a flash flood warning covering all boroughs but Staten Island.

"Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen," the flash flood warning states. "Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly."
The flash flood warning will remain in effect until Wednesday at 10 p.m. The flood watch will be active until Thursday at 2 p.m.

Many areas surrounding New York City are also under a tornado watch. A confirmed tornado — which was caught on video — tore through South Jersey.
