A coastal storm headed to the city Monday evening could bring floods and 50-mph wind gusts, according to a hazardous weather outlook.
NEW YORK CITY — Batten down the hatches — an ocean-hugging storm system is about to drench New York City.
A coastal storm is expected to hit the New York City area Monday evening with pouring rain, potential floods and wind gusts up to 50 mph, according to a National Weather Service weather story.
“Around 1.5 inches of rain is expected,” the weather story states. “Minor urban and poor drainage flooding possible.”

The city and surrounding states will be under a hazardous weather outlook Monday evening, with wind and coastal flood advisories starting at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively, according to the National Weather Service.
A 100 percent chance of rain, some of which will be heavy, is predicted in New York City’s forecast.
