NYC Weather: Expect 5 Below Windchills This Week

NEW YORK CITY — Bundle up, New York City — a blast of extra-chilly air threatens to blow through the city.
"Windchills of near 0 to 5 below zero are likely Tuesday morning," a National Weather Service alert states.

Temperatures will reach a low of 16 degrees Monday night and into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. But the air will feel even colder as wind gusts as high as 28 mph blow through the city, according to the forecast.
"Air temperatures will likely be 20 degrees F or below for 24 to 30 hrs (starting late tonight and going into Wednesday morning) across the New York City Metro, posing a significant threat for poorly insulated pipes to freeze and burst," the hazardous weather outlook states.

Windchills during Tuesday will stay between 0 and 10 degrees, according to the forecast.
