NYC Weather Forecast: 'Urban Flooding' Predicted For Next Week
Heavy rain is expected hit the city on Monday.
NEW YORK, NY — It's almost time for some good old-fashioned April showers. A patch of heavy rain could cause "urban flooding" as it slams New York City early next week, the National Weather Service warned Wednesday.
A low pressure system moving into the area Sunday bring drizzles that night followed by more intense downpours on Monday, the NWS says. Close to 1.5 inches of water could accumulate.
That heavy rain will be "capable of causing areal urban flooding" in the five boroughs, meaning puddles may populate city streets, the weather service said in a hazardous weather outlook issued Wednesday.

The rainfall will follow sunny days with high temperatures above 70 degrees on Friday and Saturday that will offer some relief from the recent chilly days.
But the high will dip to about 45 degrees on Sunday as the wet weather approaches, the NWS predicts.
