NYC Weather: Get Ready For A Rainy Week As Summer Officially Dawns

Don't forget an umbrella wherever you go till Friday — the chance of rain won't be far behind.

NEW YORK CITY — A soggy few days are in store for New Yorkers as summer officially begins, forecasters say.

Tuesday is the summer solstice — the longest day of the year — and its early sunny skies likely will give way to wet weather later, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

"Today marks the start of astronomical summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and will feature increasing clouds through the afternoon with showers expected to move in by the evening," the National Weather Service's New York office tweeted. "Highs top out in the 70s almost everywhere."
