NYC Weather: Heavy Rain, Wind Gusts Blow Into City

NEW YORK CITY — Prepare for a week of wet weather, New York City.

Rain likely will drench the city starting Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. An 80 percent chance of rain, along with wind gusts up to 45 mph, is expected, forecasters said.

"About .5 to 1 inch of rainfall is expected across the northern half of the area, with .25 to .5 inches forecast across Long Island and NYC," a National Weather Service statement reads.

The half-inch of rain Tuesday into early Wednesday isn't the only expected precipitation this week.

Thursday carries a 30 percent chance of precipitation, which could be snow as temperatures drop to lows of near freezing, according to the forecast.

Rain is a certainty Friday, as forecasters predict a 100 percent chance of precipitation.
