NEW YORK — New Yorkers are in for a taste of April showers. Close to half an inch of rain could hit the city starting on Friday ahead of a dry, sunny weekend, the National Weather Service says.

Showers could start as early as late Friday morning and will continue to threaten the city into Saturday morning, according to the weather service. The wet weather will come amid chilly temperatures with a high near 42 degrees in Central Park, the forecast says.

Get ready for a messy evening rush hour — the best chance of rain will come from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, the forecast shows.
