Sunny skies will give way to showers, potential thunderstorms and a 66-degree high by Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
NEW YORK CITY — Think twice about those Sunday beach plans, New Yorkers.
Showers are in New York City's weekend forecast after a Friday of sunny skies and summery temperatures, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.
Saturday's forecast carries a 20 percent chance of rain, but the chance of a Sunday washout is even greater, the forecast states.

Showers are likely Sunday, which has a 60 percent chance of rain, along with the risk of potential thunderstorms, according to the forecast.
"New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms," the forecast states.

And to top it all off, temperatures Sunday will hold steady at 66 degrees, according to the forecast.
The weather outlook isn't all gloomy.
Friday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 79 degrees, according to the forecast. Saturday will have partly sunny skies and a high near 77 degrees, although a slight chance of showers will enter the forecast about 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
