NYC Weather: Thunderstorms, Showers Arrive When Temps Hit 65
A streak of cold days for New York City will end Thursday, when highs hit 65 degrees. But rain won't be far behind, forecasters warn.
NEW YORK CITY — April showers could wash out the last day of March, forecasters say.
Spring weather officially returns to the forecast Thursday, when the high will hit 65 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
But rain likely isn't far behind.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday night before April arrives Friday, the forecast states.
"Chance of precipitation is 90%," the forecast states. "New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

The weather, though wet, likely will be a welcome change for New Yorkers tired of winter's chilly last gasp over the past few days.
Temperatures over the next week won't reach the balmy highs of Thursday, but likely will hover around 55 degrees, according to the forecast.

A 20 percent chance of light rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

A chance of drizzle or light rain, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday
A chance of drizzle or light rain before 10am, then a chance of showers after 4pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 65. Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday Night
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers. Low around 55. Breezy, with a south wind 14 to 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 55 by 9am. Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
