Tropical Storm Fred Remnants Could Bring Tornado To NYC
Heavy rainfall, flash flooding and an isolated tornado are possible late Wednesday in the city, according to a hazardous weather outlook.

NEW YORK CITY — Remnants of Tropical Storm Fred could make for a wet Wednesday for New York City — or worse.
A hazardous weather outlook for the city warns of heavy rainfall and flash flooding late Wednesday and into Thursday morning as the dying tropical storm blows through.
"An isolated tornado is also possible," the outlook states.

Tropical Storm Fred has long appeared set on hitting the New York City region since it struck the Florida panhandle this week.
About 1 to 2 inches of localized rain could hit the city when Fred's ghost arrives, National Weather Service forecasters predict.

The threat of an isolated tornado is present across the whole region, forecasters warn.

A slight chance of showers between noon and 3pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 81. Southeast wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 87. South wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
