NYC Weather: Weekend Highs Will Peak Near 60, Followed By Snow

NEW YORK CITY — New York City is due for some serious weekend weather whiplash.

High temperatures Saturday are expected to hit nearly 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

But the spring-like weather won't last long — by early Sunday the temperatures will drop below freezing and snow will enter the forecast, meteorologists said.

"A 30 percent chance of snow," Sunday's forecast states.

The city this winter experienced some major snowfall, but the season has been comparatively mild compared to other parts of New York and the nation.

Winter storms walloped upstate New York and Midwest last week, while New York City escaped with a smidge of freezing rain and overall wet weather.

Weather this week likely will have considerably less rain and grow warm as Saturday approaches, according to the forecast.
