NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes For Sept. 23-24

Heads up: The 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, D, E, F, J, L, M, N, Q and R trains won't be running normally this weekend.

NEW YORK CITY — Before you head out to Free Museum Day, the Atlantic Antic or Bushwick Open Studios, make sure you know how to get there. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is going to be mixing things up this weekend.

It won’t be easy to get around by subway. From late Friday night until Monday morning, a stunning 17 trains will run with modified service. (For more NYC local news, subscribe to Patch to get a daily newsletter and breaking news alerts.)

1 Train:

Downtown trains will run express from 72nd Street to Times Square-42nd St. from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

2 Trains:

All Brooklyn service will be replaced by by 4 and 5 trains from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday and downtown-bound 2 trains will terminate at South Ferry.

There will be no service at the Clark Street, Hoyt Street, Park Place or Wall Street stations over the weekend.

All 2 trains will run between Eastchester-Dyre Avenues in the Bronx and South Ferry in Manhattan and make local stops between 34th St-Penn Station and Chambers St.

Uptown-bound trains will run express from Third Avenue-149th Street to East 180th Street from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

In The Bronx, all service will be suspended and shuttle buses will run between Wakefield-241st Street and Gun Hill Road from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

3 Trains:

All Brooklyn service will be replaced by 4 and 5 trains and downtown-bound trains will terminate at 14th St.

There will be no service at the Clark Street, Hoyt Street, Park Place or Wall Street stations all weekend.

4 Trains:

All trains will run local in Brooklyn and service will be extended to New Lots Avenue to replace the 3 train

5 Trains:

All trains will run local in Brooklyn and service will be extended to Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College to replace 2 train service.

All service will be replaced by shuttle buses between Wakefield-241st Street and Gun Hill Road in The Bronx from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Uptown-bound trains will run express from Third Avenue-149th Street to East 180th Street from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

6 Trains:

Downtown-bound trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parchester from 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

A Trains:

Downtown-bound trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Downtown trains run local from 125th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

C Trains:

Downtown-bound trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 6:30 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

D Trains:

Coney Island-bound trains will skip DeKalb Avenue and run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Downtown-bound trains will run local from 125th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

All trains will skip Prospect Avenue until fall 2017.

E Trains:

All trains run on the F line between 21st Street-Queensbridge, and Manhattan-bound trains will terminate at West Fourth Street, from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Manhattan-bound trains will run local from 71st Avenue to 21st Street-Queensbridge from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

F Trains:

All service will be suspended and replaced by shuttle buses between Stillwell Avenue and Church Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Manhattan-bound trains run local from 71st Avenue to 21st Street-Queensbridge from 12:01 Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Manhattan-bound trains will skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy, and Avenue I until early 2018.

J Trains:

Queens-bound trains will terminate at Crescent Street from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday. Free shuttle buses make all J stops between Crescent Street and 121st Street and at Jamaica-Van Wyck.

Manhattan-bound trains will skip 121st Street and 104th Street until fall 2017.

L Trains:

Service will operate in two sections — between Eighth Avenue and Broadway Junction and between Broadway Junction and Rockaway Parkway — from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

M Trains:

All service is suspended and replaced by shuttle buses between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Myrtle Avenue until spring 2018. M train service will operate in two sections — between Essex Street and Broadway Junction on the J line and between Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues.

N Trains:

Astoria-bound trains will skip 39th Avenue, 36th Avenue, Broadway and 30th Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

All trains will stop at 45th Street and 53rd Street in Brooklyn from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

All trains will skip Prospect Avenue until fall 2017.

Coney Island-bound trains will skip Fort Hamilton Parkway, New Utrecht Avenue, 18th Avenue, 20th Avenue, Kings Highway, Avenue U and 86th Street until fall 2018.

Q Trains:

Coney Island-bound trains will run local on the R line from 57th Street-Seventh Avenue to DeKalb Avenue from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

R Trains:

Service will operate days and evenings between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and 36th Street, then on the D line to Ninth Avenue.

Brooklyn-bound trains will terminate at the Ninth Avenue D train station from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Late night service is suspended between Brooklyn and Whitehall Street. Free line-closure buses will make stops between Bay Ridge-95th Street and 36th Street. Transfer between trains and buses at 36th Street or 59th Street N train stations as N trains, which will provide late night service.

All trains will skip skip Prospect Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue until fall 2017.
