NYC Weekend Weather: Swampy High Humidity, Rain, And Fog Will Hit City

Break out the anti-frizz and grab an umbrella if you plan to enjoy the 70-degree highs this weekend.

NEW YORK CITY — Get ready for a swampy weekend, New Yorkers.

A blanket of high humidity starting Friday threatens to make upcoming 70-degree highs feel especially sticky — and turn hair extra frizzy, according to forecasts.

The humidity has already hit the city, as seen from Friday morning’s sometimes-dense fog, low-lying clouds and excess of bad hair days. AccuWeather meteorologists warned the air Saturday and Sunday will have a thick, “tropical-like feel.”

"The higher humidity will be more reminiscent of mid-July as opposed to mid-May," said Randy Adkins, an AccuWeather meteorologist, in a report from the service.

Scattered rain and patchy fog, along with potential thunderstorms, are expected to hit the city starting Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
