NYS Common Core Math (+ELA) Prep Course

This comprehensive Math (+ELA) courses consist of 5 teaching sessions (2 Hours Math- 2 Hours ELA). The overarching goal of this Math (+ELA) is to help students develop mathematical knowledge, understanding, and skills, by covering all the essential Common Core math topics needed to score extremely well on the upcoming April and May assessments. The essential math topics (+ELA) we will cover: (1) Ratios and Proportional, (2) The Number System, (3) Expressions and Equations, (4) Statistics and Probability, and (5) Geometry.

For the (+ELA) section of the course, students will learn to analyze these varied texts, to identify key ideas and details, to compare and contrast major text elements, and to distinguish between those claims supported by evidence and those that are not. Student will then try her hand at writing your own arguments and supporting them with research- based evidence, and you will work to improve her writing by taking it through the steps of the writing process. Students will also learn valuable test-taking strategies to master the Reading, Writing, and Language Standards section using multiple-choice, short response, and extended-response questions.
