Portuguese Heritage Festival: Festival at Ridge Road County Park

THE CULTURE OF PORTUGAL TO BE SHOWCASED AT WESTCHESTER'S RIDGE ROAD COUNTY PARK

The New York Portuguese American Leadership Conference (NYPALC) announced that the annual Portuguese Heritage Day will take place on Sunday, June 2, noon to 7 p.m., at Ridge Road County Park in Hartsdale, NY.


“Join the Portuguese Community to celebrate the rich culture and traditions of Portugal through music, dance, food and activities for all ages in Westchester’s Ridge Road County Park” NYPALC President Isabelle Coelho-Marques said. "This iconic festival has been bringing together the New York State Portuguese Community since 1973 to celebrate Portugal's National Day "Dia de Portugal, de Camoes e das Comunidades Portuguesas" and proudly share our traditions and heritage with the communities at large" said the Portuguese community leader.

This year the entertainment will include folklore dancing by "Rancho Beleza do Minho" of Ossining and, "Rancho Sonhos e Juventude de Portugal" of Mineola and live music Juce and Isabel Band - as well as sports activities including friendly soccer matches and traditional children's games. Portuguese food and beverages will be available for sale by the Portuguese American Community Center, Yonkers. The Ridge Road County Park is located at 1 Emerson Avenue in Hartsdale.

The festival will be held rain or shine. Seating is informal; bring blankets or folding chairs for seating on the lawn. The event is sponsored by Westchester County Parks and NYPALC.
