Poster House Presents First Friday On August 4
Join Poster House on the First Friday of August for free museum admission & extended hours

Poster House, the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history of posters, will host its monthly “First Friday” event on August 4, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Poster House, 119 West 23rd Street in Manhattan.Poster House will be offering free admission and extended hours for guests to explore the museum’s latest exhibitions.Poster House’s First Fridays feature unique opportunities such as tours, workshops, performances, and activities, to further engage visitors with the rotating exhibitions and the permanent collection.
- 3:00 PM : Join collage artist Luis Martin and make your own art while engaging in conversation and exploring collage techniques.
- 5:00 PM: Screening of the Just Like Me documentary, created and directed by Havas Chicago’s Senior Art Director TTK Harris. The film spotlights Black creatives’ contributions to the advertising and design industry and their influences on culture, all while exposing the challenges many face and reinforces the importance of representation and equality in advertising and beyond.
- 6:00 PM: Poster House will host an exclusive performance, by Yu.S.Artistry, of Memories of the Moon, which follows the story of a prisoner in a Japanese internment camp.
- 7:00 PM: Critically acclaimed trumpeter, composer, bandleader, recording artist, and Director of Jazz Studies at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Josh Lawrence will perform a jazz quartet performance in celebration of his two latest albums.
Free tickets can be reserved online in advance of August 4th. During normal hours, tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students, veterans, and seniors. Poster House offers free museum admission through the New York City’s public library Culture Pass system.
