The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Kathy Hochul atop One World Trade Center.

NEW YORK CITY — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were on top of the world — the rebuilt World Trade Center, that is.
The royal Duke and Duchess of Sussex met Thursday with the democratically elected Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Kathy Hochul atop One World Trade Center.
The group — along with de Blasio's wife, Chirlane McCray, and son, Dante de Blasio — posed for photographs from the observation deck.

"It's wonderful," Markle said when asked about her visit to New York City, the Associated Press reported.
The royals are in the city for a Global Citizen Live event to call for vaccine equity. They kept mostly mum during their meeting with de Blasio and Hochul, but the elected officials touted the visit as a sign the city is recovering from the coronavirus.

"All this is showing that we are coming back," Hochul said afterward about the visit and improving COVID-19 numbers.
De Blasio also tied the visit to another New York City rebirth.
"The tragedy of September 11 touched the entire world, and it's still felt today," he tweeted. "We're honored to join Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, at One World Observatory."
