Raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s on the Longest Day
Join the Alzheimer's Association® to Honor those Living with Alzheimer's and Their Caregivers.
Despite the winter chill, it is never too early to register for The Longest Day®, an annual sunrise-to-sunset national event organized by the Alzheimer’s Association. This year, Longest Day events are being held worldwide and throughout New York City on June 21, 2018 to ignite a global conversation about Alzheimer's disease, brain health and other dementias as part of Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month® in June.
Held traditionally on the summer solstice, The Longest Day symbolizes the challenging journey of those currently living with Alzheimer’s and their dedicated caregivers. Participants can choose to do what they enjoy most – swimming, hiking, baking, knitting, and more-– to honor a caregiver, someone living with Alzheimer’s or someone they have lost to dementia. The activities on The Longest Day give participants a personal way to express themselves and honor a loved one as they raise funds and awareness to help advance Alzheimer’s Association care and support programs and research initiatives.
“The Longest Day gives all New Yorkers a special and personal way to celebrate a friend, family member or loved one who has been touched by Alzheimer’s or another dementia. It also gives corporations an opportunity to support their employees by hosting an activity while they help in the fight to find a treatment and a cure,” explained Lucy DeNardo, Constituent Event Manager for the NYC Chapter.

“We will be reaching out in social media to invite people of all ages to join the global movement to end Alzheimer’s by helping to fund locally-based support and caregiver programs,” she said.
