Fans Line Up To Eat Breakfast At Tiffany's
A crowd of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" fans stretched around the block Friday to dine at the iconic jewelry company's new cafe.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The coldest day of the season couldn't stop "Breakfast at Tiffany's" fans from lining up around the block of the jewelry maker's Fifth Avenue flagship store Friday for the opening of its new cafe.
The Blue Box Café gives every wannabe Holly Golightly the chance to have breakfast (and lunch) at Tiffany's — complete with the coffee and croissant that Audrey Hepburn's iconic character famously snacks on while gazing into the store's display windows during the opening scene of the classic 1961 film.
Hepburn superfan Lauren Durnin arrived in front of the Fifth Avenue store at 6:30, more than three hours before opening, to be first in line for the cafe. Durnin decided to come into the city Friday from New Jersey after a friend tagged her in an article about the cafe the day before, she told Patch.

"I used to tell people that the closest you could come to having breakfast at Tiffany's was to go and get your jewelry cleaned upstairs and they offer you a free drink," Durnin said. "That was the closest I've ever had to having breakfast at Tiffany's so when I was tagged in the article yesterday I was like 'I can't even miss the opportunity to come here.'"

A common theme among breakfasters was a personal connection to the 1961 film based off a novel written by Truman Capote.

Nick Avloshenko told Patch that he was introduced to the film by his mother when he was 11-years-old.
"My mom showed me this movie, because she would show me a lot of classical movies and it stuck with me a lot," Avloshenko told Patch. "And I know that's her favorite movie."
Avloshenko told Patch that his mother watches "Breakfast at Tiffany's" on her birthday every year and that he was planning to send her pictures from the meal.
Lea Kadish made sure she dressed the part for Friday morning's breakfast, donning a black outfit as a homage to Hepburn's character in the 1961 film. Kadish told Patch that she's "obsessed" with the classic film and her apartment is decorated in Tiffany blue.
Tiffany & Co. opened The Blue Box Café Friday on the fourth floor of its flagship store. Diners will have the opportunity to sip on coffee and eat baked goods in a space designed to "evoke Tiffany's craftsmanship and heritage," a press release said. Breakfast options at the cafe include avocado toast, a Belgian waffle and truffle eggs and runs $29 per head.
The fourth floor of Tiffany & Co. will also feature a brand-new home and accessories collection, a baby boutique, sterling silver hollowware and a selection of vintage books, according to a press release.
"Both the café and redesign of the Home & Accessories floor reflect a modern luxury experience," Reed Krakoff, chief artistic officer at Tiffany & Co., said in a statement. "The space is experimental and experiential – a window into the new Tiffany."
