SantaCon NYC Train Boozing Is On MTA's Naughty List (Again)
Alcohol will be banned Saturday and Sunday on Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road trains because of SantaCon, officials said.
NEW YORK CITY — Expect a big lump of coal of a summons if you booze on commuter trains this weekend, SantaCon NYC revelers.
Alcohol will be banned Saturday and Sunday on Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road trains, MTA officials announced.
Putting alcohol on a temporary naughty list is a transit tradition for SantaCon, the annual festival in which hordes of drunken Kris Kringles bar crawl across the city.

But the ho-ho-hedonism doesn't sit well with many New Yorkers and visitors, prompting officials to ban chugging, swilling and sipping of alcohol on trains.
"Ensuring everyone has access to safe and orderly travel is a top priority," said MTA Police Chief John Mueller, in a statement. "The holiday season is a wonderful time of year, and we want everyone to get to their destination smoothly and on time while enjoying the festivities."

SantaCon NYC starts Saturday at 10 a.m., with bar locations primarily below 50th Street in Manhattan.
The MTA commuter booze ban will begin that day at 4 a.m. and run till Sunday at 12 p.m.
Alcohol consumption will be banned from commuter trains and station platforms during that time, with MTA police beefing up their presence at Penn Station, Grand Central Madison and Grand Central Terminal, officials said.
Cops will confiscate any Christmas cocktails and issues summonses, officials said.
