'Security Incident' Prompts Emergency Plane Landing At LaGuardia

One person was arrested after the plane landed safely just after 3 p.m., according to multiple reports.

NEW YORK CITY — One person was arrested Saturday after an airplane was forced to make an emergency landing at LaGuardia International Airport due to a potential security concern, according to multiple reports.

American Eagle flight 4817 made an emergency landing after passengers reported suspicious behavior from a person on board the flight, NBC New York reported, citing a Port Authority spokesperson. When confronted by an authority, the man reportedly suggested he had brought a device on the plane.

American Airlines also confirmed the plane's emergency landing in a statement to ABC 7.

"American Eagle flight 4817, operated by Republic Airways with service from Indianapolis to New York (LGA) deplaned on the taxiway at LGA due to a potential security issue. The aircraft landed safely, and all customers deplaned without incident," the statement read.

Authorities searched the plane and found no threat, NBC reported. The passenger was taken into custody for questioning.
