Serial Bank Robber Hits 3 NYC Banks in 5 Days

NEW YORK, NY — A serial bank robber has knocked off three New York City banks over the past five days using nothing but a note and threatening verbal demands, police said. The man targeted a Chase Bank in the Upper East Side, a Citibank in Midwood and a Capital One Bank in Midtown North.

In each robbery, the man passed a note to the bank teller and made intimidating verbal orders for money, police said. In the last incident at the Capital One Bank, he allegedly jumped on the teller counter and took money out of the cash box before he fled the premise.

The man first robbed the Chase Bank at 1191 Third Ave. the evening of Nov. 23, police said. The second robbery happened at the Citibank at 1220 Avenue J in the early morning of Thanksgiving Day, and the man struck again at the Capital One Bank at 840 9th Ave. the evening of Nov. 28, police said.
