Spring Weather Headed To NYC This Week

NEW YORK CITY — Blue skies, golden sunshine and warm weather will all grace New York City this week, forecasters predict.

Temperatures are expected to crack 60 degrees starting Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 61," the forecast for Tuesday states.

The spring-like weather won't reach the highs expected elsewhere in the country — the Upper Midwest is expected to have temperatures 15 to 25 degrees above average — but likely will melt the last remaining snow piles for a batch of winter storms that hit the city in February.

It won't be a full-on heat wave in New York City. Lows will be 39 degrees on Tuesday and hover just above 40 degrees for the week, according to the forecast.

But the 63 degrees predicted for Thursday likely will be a welcome taste of spring to come.
