Here are some of the standard tools which a mechanic must have in their set of instruments.

For a new mechanic, the best feeling for them is the new set of tools which will be the major asset of their new journey as professionals. The tool set comprises of many useful tools which help a mechanic to complete their work with ease and professionalism. Many of the mechanics keep collecting their weapons for an extended period, and they finally get the perfect set.

Like artists with their paint brushes, palette, and canvas creates their masterpiece, the mechanics require the tool set matching their preferences to give a great result of work.

Here are some of the standard tools which a mechanic must have in their set of instruments.

Wrenches

When there is a choice between the US standard size or the metric for measurement one should always go for the metric. Many of the mechanics have the wrenches but not the quality set. Craftsman is one of the great choices when it comes to quality and Craftsman offer lifetime warranty.

Screwdrivers

The rookie mechanics not just need the Phillips and Flat head screwdrivers but there is a requirement of an assortment of gauges and lengths. And here are some of the screwdriver assortments.

  • Stubbed screwdrivers- The stubbed ones are a good choice for removing the sensors, and it is a must have a screwdriver for confined spaces.
  • Regular length screwdrivers- One can use the screwdriver of normal length for general purposes.
  • Skinny and long screwdrivers- With the long length of the screwdriver one can reach the distant places. However, these screwdrivers can break easily as well.
  • Heavy duty screwdriver with flat-head- One can hit the heavy duty one screwdriver with the hammer, and it is useful in many situations as well. One can also make use of the screwdriver as the small pry-bar.
  • Small Flathead Screwdriver – These screwdrivers are inexpensive than others. The most common use of the screwdriver is to hold open the intake throttle while doing the tune-ups.
  • Torx Screwdriver- The Torx type has star-head, and it is most commonly found on the sensors. However, the car makers use this type more than anyone.

Hammer

If you want to knock the stuck components or rotor, then the hammer is the tool you would use and i think it's one of the must've in mechanics tools set. Here are some common types of hammers.

  • Ball Pein- This hammer is good for the general purposes and brake work.
  • Rubber Mallet- If you want to beat on a surface and also want it to be free of dents then rubber mallet will be helpful for you.

The Extension bar

Many of the bolts are not within reach all the time. With a variety of the extension bars, the mechanic can take out the part which is present in engine bay deep down, or if the mechanic wants to tear the transmission. Extension bar makes things easier.

There are many other tools such as the ratchets, sockets, pliers, breaker bars, pry bars, headlamp or LED flashlight, multi-meters, socket swivels, Jack, and much more which make things easier for the mechanics.
