throo Announces "House Cup" Challenge
Students at Columbia and NYU can sign up for throo, represent their school, invite their friends to join, and earn points for every ride.
An interactive, friendly competition, throo's House Cup is officially live! Students at New York University and Columbia University can sign up for throo, represent their school, invite their friends to join, and earn points for every ride. At the end of the campaign, one “house” will take home the grand prize and the top 10 winners receive $1,500 in total throo rides!
- How to Participate:
- Download the throo app for iOS or Android
- Sign up with your columbia.edu or nyu.edu email
- Verify your email in the Account tab on the throo app.
- Enjoy your ride “throoooooo” your city
- How Points Work:
- Every ride counts twice: once for you, once for your “House.”
- Sign up with an .edu email = 1 point (one-time only)
- Refer a new rider = 3 points for each friend referred (once referred rider completes first trip)
- Your friend gets $10 off their first ride.
- You get $6 — every time someone rides on your link.
- Plus 3 points for your House per referral
- Complete any city ride booked on the throo app = 5 points
- Complete an airport trip = 10 points (JFK, LGA, EWR)
- Note: throo has flat airport fares from Manhattan to JFK and LGA at $79.99 and LGA at $59.99, respectively – no surge, no surprise.
- Ride with throo AI Agent = 20 points (more details coming soon!)

- Students can view the live leaderboard, updated hourly, to see how their “house” (university) is doing in the challenge. Here is the link to
