Liu’s “Eagles Rest in Liangshan” is about the popularity of basketball within the Yi minority in Liangshan, China. It’s so popular that the center of town is not a park but a basketball court. The program follows a young Yi man who is inspired by the Kobe Bryant Mamba mentality and returns to his city to coach kids’ basketball.

Rahman’s “Finding Freedom” is her personal account of being a Muslim woman of color from Brunei who joins the Black Lives Matter protests in New York City. Witnessing events as they unfold during the protests, she begins to question the meaning of freedom and her traumatic childhood memories growing up in Brunei begin to resurface.
