United Charter High Schools Announces Dr. Jesus A. Garcia Principal of Advanced Math & Science IV in Queens

United Charter High Schools (UCHS), one of the largest public charter high school networks in New York state, has named Dr. Jesus A. Garcia as the new principal of UCHS Advanced Math & Science IV (AMS IV) in South Jamaica, Queens.

Dr. Garcia brings more than a decade of experience in education and school leadership across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. Prior to joining UCHS, he served as High School Director at The American Dream Charter School in the Bronx, where he oversaw academics, school culture, and operations for nearly three years.

“Dr. Garcia is an experienced educator and school leader who brings a strong background in instructional leadership, student achievement, school culture and family engagement,” said Dr. Curtis Palmore, CEO of United Charter High Schools. “He is committed to UCHS students and understands the importance of creating a community where young people feel known, valued and prepared to succeed. We are excited to welcome him to AMS IV and confident he will build on the school’s strengths.”

Dr. Garcia has already demonstrated that commitment within the UCHS network at AMS II in the Bronx, where he served as assistant principal and athletic director and was a member of the school’s senior leadership team. As assistant principal overseeing the 12th grade, he supported the Class of 2026 in achieving a 100% graduation rate.

“I am honored to take on this role and join the AMS IV community,” said new principal, Dr. Jesus A. Garcia. “I’m excited to get to know our students and families and work closely with our teachers and staff, building on the strong foundation already in place at AMS IV. Together, we’ll continue to create opportunities for every student to grow academically, discover their strengths and leave high school prepared for the future.”

Dr. Garcia is completing a doctorate in Educational Leadership at Russell Sage College, with a concentration in system-level leadership and organizational development, and has successfully defended his dissertation research. He also holds master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Special Education and a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Secondary English Education from The City College of New York. He earned a certificate through the Data Wise Leadership Institute at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and is proficient in Spanish.
