This Valentine’s Day, Treat Yourself to Some Love

Manhattanites are multitaskers. Women (and men!) spend much of their days running around for other people. They are negotiating deals for clients, completing assignments for the boss, dropping off forgotten jackets for kids at school. This Valentine’s Day, Dr. Bushra Helmandi is reminding people in the Big Apple to give a little love to your body and soul. Her wellness center, Beauty and Body Aesthetics, located at 369 Lexington Ave, provides health solutions in conjunction with beauty treatments; a one-stop shop that combines holistic measures like acupuncture, IV vitamin infused fluids, massage and meditation with traditional beauty treatments like Botox, laser facials, body contouring, skin tightening, and microneedling.

“We built our clinic to be a mini spa retreat for busy people who need a temporary escape from the hectic city,” she explains. We spoke with her to learn more about the different treatments and facials Beauty and Body Aesthetics offer and information on monthly specials and membership.

What inspired a chiropractor to open a wellness spa?

Dr. Helmandi: So much of my career is wellness-based and focused on internal wellness. I thought it made sense to tie that in with a focus on external wellness and beauty. The idea behind Beauty and Body Aesthetics is for women and men to maximize and enhance their natural beauty. When we feel our best, we glow.

What makes Beauty and Body Aesthetics different from other NYC spas?

Dr. Helmandi: When I initially opened the spa, I wasn’t quite sure what my focus should be and so we had a much larger menu of treatments that were geared toward so many issues. In recent months, our emphasis has shifted to focus on internal and external wellness and beauty. We offer unique procedures like lymphatic drainage massage, our stretch studio led by licensed physical therapists, and acupuncture. We also concentrate on skin health and revitalization of skin, because especially with Manhattan’s changing seasons, many of us need recovery from the sun in order to keep our skin from aging prematurely.

What is your most popular treatment at the moment?

Dr. Helmandi: People really love Secret Pro microneedling with radio frequency. It’s a lengthy process that begins with the application of numbing cream for about 45 minutes to an hour. Then the device delivers precise needling to the face with bursts of radio frequency technology that promotes collagen production. A few months after the procedure people will notice that they have visibly tighter skin.
