Victoria Doramus Garners Support for a Local Animal Shelter in NY

Victoria Doramus Helps Save Lives with the Best Friends Animal Society In New York

“Despite all its beauties, this world can be a cruel place,” notes Victoria Doramus in a recent tell-all. As a recovering addict, Victoria Doramus has experienced many difficulties and challenges, and as she began her journey through recovery, she realized how important it is to help others as well.

But people are not the only ones who need help. Animals also need help. That’s why Victoria Doramus support’s the Best Friends Animal Society. They help animals by trying to end the killing in America’s animal shelters through building community programs and partnerships all across the nation. By working together they believe they can Save Them All.

Best Friends’ story began in the 1980s when shelters across America routinely killed cats and dogs as a method of handling unwanted pets. Around 17 million animals were killed every year and old and sick animals were the first to go.

Then a group of friends decided to take some of those animals to a safe place to heal. With a little bit of love and proper care, the majority of these animals found loving families while the remaining animals spent the rest of their days in the new sanctuary. In time, this group of friends became Best Friends Animal Society, a nonprofit organization and animal welfare society.

Victoria Doramus personally supports this organization because they believe that all animals deserve to be loved, no matter how old, sick or unwanted they are. At the core of the organization is the dream that one day animals will no longer be killed in America’s animal shelters.

It’s amazing how much they have already achieved. At any given time, about 1,600 animals are receiving the medical help they need, and what’s maybe even more important is that they are getting love and acceptance to help them overcome their troubled past.

You see, animals are not that different than humans. Just like people, animals are lost without love and someone who cares about them. And I’m not talking just about the recovering addicts. Everyone needs love and care to survive.

At the Best Friends Network, they bring animal shelters and rescue groups together from across the country to hold adoption events, public education campaigns, and fundraising drives. Together, these groups are able to save many more lives than they could in isolation.

They need your help. You can get involved with a donation to Best Friends Animal Society. These donations are helping tens of thousands of animals, both at the Sanctuary and through animal rescue programs all across the country. There are also other ways you can help the Sanctuary and you can learn all about them and volunteer opportunities in the NYC area here!
