46% of employees who self identify as LGBTQ in the United States are not ‘out’ at work. Globally, that number jumps to 64%.

OUT Leadership, a global LGBTQ business network, is fighting to make workplace equality a priority in the business world. The organization began in 2011 with six founding firms and now counts more than seventy of the world’s leading companies across thirteen industries as members. They will host their annual US Senior Leader Summit tonight from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at STK Downtown, 26 Little West 12 Street.

Their mission is to help out leaders and companies connect with talent, transform organizations and compete on social purpose.

“Through events like these, CEOs realize the positive effects of inclusion,” says Jake Resnicow, an event producer, who will be speaking at tonight’s summit.

He adds that tonight’s event is especially important as New York prepares to kick-off Pride Month. “As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, I'm reminded that we've come a long way, but we can’t rest. We must keep fighting for equality and acceptance in all areas, including the workplace.”

Jake Resnicow will be producing twelve events at next month’s WorldPride in New York, including the largest Pride party in history at the Javits Center.

Additional speakers at tonight’s summit include Chasten Buttegieg, an Educator; Herb Engert, NY Managing Partner at Ernst & Young; Peter Erichsen, a Partner at law firm Ropes & Gray; and Todd G. Sears, the founder of Out Leadership.
