Yankee Stadium, Javits Will Offer Johnson & Johnson COVID Vaccine
Two mass vaccination sites in the city will open overnight to give out the new, one-shot Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine.

NEW YORK CITY — Two New York City landmarks will stay open during the wee hours to give out doses of newly-approved, one-shot coronavirus vaccine.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine not only will arrive in the city this week, it’ll be offered specially during overnight hours at the Yankee Stadium and Javits Center mass vaccination sites, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office.
"The White House has made great process securing additional Johnson & Johnson vaccines, and New York State will receive a large initial allocation of them to be administered over the next week," Cuomo said in a statement. "There will then be a lag in Johnson & Johnson production until it ticks up again roughly two weeks later. This pilot plan will maximize the initial doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and get as many shots in arms as possible."

The state is slated to receive 164,800 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week — a supply officials anticipate will last about 10 days, according to a release.
The vaccine is the third approved in the fight against COVID-19. White House officials expect Johnson & Johnson, along with production assist by its rival drug maker Merck, will be able to deliver 100 million doses nationwide by the end of June.

But until then, the state will be on the relatively-short supply.
Yankee Stadium and Javits Center, along with the New York State Fair site in Syracuse, will continue offering the two-shot Pfizer vaccine at their sites during the day. They’ll then shift to overnight operations to give out the J&J vaccine, officials said.
Only eligible Bronx residents can receive vaccines at Yankee Stadium. Appointments for the J&J vaccine will open Wednesday at 11 a.m. and can be booked by visiting Somosvaccinations.com or calling 1-833-SomosNY.
The Javits Center site is open to all eligible New Yorkers. They can make appointments starting Thursday at 8 a.m. by using the state's 'Am I Eligible' website or by calling the state's COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX.
The J&J vaccine program for Yankee Stadium will start Thursday and run from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. The Javits Center program will begin Friday and run from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
