  • He described himself as a "long-suffering" Mets fan, and was rooting for the team during their 2024 postseason run. The ex-mayor also drew criticism from local sports fans after he was spotted wearing a hat with both Yankees and Mets logos.

  • He was known as a Red Sox fan and declined to pick between the Mets and Yankees to remain loyal to his "childhood team."

In an interview on Sean Hannity's podcast “Hang Out,” the former mayor explained his decision.

“I had one of those moments, I was either going to be a total a--hole and say, ‘Oh, I like them both.’ Or maybe say the Mets because they’re not the Yankees,” De Blasio said. “And I just said, I don’t want to live that way. I am a deep deep baseball fan.”

  • Michael Bloomberg:

  • While he grew up in Massachusetts as a Boston Red Sox fan, Bloomberg supported both New York baseball teams during his tenure.

In 2003, Bloomberg said he was rooting for the Yankees.

"Make no mistake about that. This team is going to go all the way," he said at the time.

Despite being called a "Yankee-loving mayor" by The New York Times, Bloomberg, said he had tickets to the Mets and Yankees for him and his daughters to go.

Was known as a long-time, avid fan of the New York Yankees. During his time as mayor he was seen seated behind the dugout during a number of playoff games.

In addition, to his friendship with Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, Giuliani was described as "New York's No. 1 Yankee fan."

The 106th mayor seems to have remained neutral during his time as mayor and did not pick a New York team to support.

Dinkin supported both New York teams and was seen at a number of games during the early 1990s. He was also supportive of a new stadium for the Yankees so they could remain in the Bronx.

The mayor of the city from 1934 to 1945 also remained neutral between the three baseball teams at the time — the Yankees, Dodgers and Giants.

According to historians his son was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and the mayor showed affection to them.
