2 Dead in Sunday Crash on Route 304
Route 304 in New City remained closed between Squadron Boulevard and Goebel Road until conclusion of the investigation, police said.

NEW CITY, NY — At 5:13 p.m. Sunday, Clarkstown police received a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 304 and Goebel Road in New City. Responding personnel located a Toyota Camry and a Lincoln MKV in the roadway. Both had extensive damage.
The Camry was occupied by one man who appeared to be the driver, and one woman in the passenger seat.
New City Fire Department personnel utilized the "Jaws of Life" to gain access to the occupants. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was extricated from the vehicle and removed to a waiting ambulance. Shortly thereafter she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Lincoln suffered a laceration to the head and was removed to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. He was unable to provide any account of the event, police said.
The Clarkstown Police Department Accident Investigation Team is on scene conducting a comprehensive investigation of the events leading up to the accident. The names of the dead are not being released at this time, pending positive identification and notification of family members.
