3-Car Crash In Stony Point Sends Two To Hospital

A man in a Mercedes grazed a pedestrian, over-corrected and hit two vehicles going the other way.

STONY POINT, NY — A Highland Falls resident was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday after a 3-vehicle crash that also involved a pedestrian.

Stony Point police were called at 11:14 a.m. to an accident in the area of 103 North Liberty Drive.

They discovered an 82-year-old man had sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center by the Stony Point Volunteer Ambulance Corps and was in critical condition.

Two other parties sustained minor injuries. One was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by the Stony Point Ambulance Corps and the other sought his own medical care. Additionally, a pedestrian was slightly struck by a vehicle and refused medical attention.

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed the Highland Falls resident was operating a 2021 Mercedes south on North Liberty Drive when he drove off the roadway slightly, striking a pedestrian, and then over-corrected and crashed into a northbound 2023 box truck.

The Mercedes-Benz then collided with a 2007 Dodge Magnum that was behind the box truck.

Bureau responded to investigate. The Stony Point Police Department was assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Rockland Paramedic Services, and the Stony Point Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
