4 Kids Found Safe After 12-Year-Old Girl Reported Missing, Parents Called From Foreign Number For Ransom

In a collaborative search with the FBI, Spring Valley police located the children safe at a Spring Valley address.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A disturbing case started when the Spring Valley Police Department received a report on Sunday of a 12-year-old girl who had been missing since the early morning hours.

The child's parents told police that they had received a phone call from a foreign phone number claiming the caller had their daughter, and demanding $1,000 or the family would never see her again.

Spring Valley police officers and detectives immediately began an investigation to locate the missing child. Due to the serious circumstances, they requested assistance from the FBI NY-Westchester Safe Streets Task Force.

Through local and federal law enforcement coordination, the missing child was found at a Spring Valley address. Police say that three additional missing juveniles were also found at the location, from other police jurisdictions in Rockland County.

Investigators say that while none of the juveniles seemed to be harmed or held against their will, the investigation into the circumstances and the ransom demand is ongoing.

The Spring Valley Police Department thanked federal partners for their quick assistance and collaboration. "Most importantly, we are grateful that all juveniles involved were safely recovered," Spring Valley police added.
